Les premières photographies de l'actrice ont été prises lors de la remise du prix David di Donatello pour son rôle dans "The Prince and the Showgirl" réalisé par Laurence Olivier, une récompense italienne décernée à l'Institut italien de New York.
Pour capturer ces images, Henri Dauman a dû se frayer un chemin pour être au plus près de l'actrice, mais il avait un allié francophone en la personne d'Arthur Miller.
